Mars Science City Project
For general visitors, a museum, whose walls will be 3D printed using sand from the Emirati desert, will showcase the Red Planet landscape conditions its heat and radiation levels.
For researchers, labs will be equipped with advanced technologies to test construction and living strategies under specific Martian conditions. Plans for the city include an experimental living scenario in which a team will attempt to live within the constructed environment for a full year. This will also be an opportunity to test new technologies that could be used on earth. Indeed, these laboratories will allow the study of food, energy and water.
It comes as no surprise that the plans for a Science Mars City coincide with the announcement by Elon Musk (creator of the Hyperloop) and SpaceX who aim to start robotic flights to Mars by 2022, with humans on Mars by 2024. It is all about science fiction.
